MarsDragoner One could think old folk motifs and dungeon synth go hand in hand like a spear needs its tip but there is a shockingly low amount of the Wardruna style of ambient folk leaning into the dungeon realms. This definitely is such a release, melding the foreboding, constant drone of the dungeons with pumping and hypnotic war-like drum hits. The traditional instruments are complemented by an ambient soundscape, the combination in its entirety seems so organic, effortless and works marvellously.

about

Norðanátt was created in 2020 when I lived in Iceland for almost one year, I felt different emotions that motivated me to create these atmospheres inspired by the past of these Nordic lands. "Kaldur Vindur á Svörtu Löndunum" retraces my adventures on this cold lands, the atmospheres that I felt in charming and mysterious places.

The album was written that same year and the music had been recorded for the most part in Iceland. A few years later I recovered these works to improve them in order to be able to present them more cleanly. Is the only album that will represent this project because it's only a part of my life that I wanted to interpret in music. Wish you a good journey, feel the northern night through the cold wind in the black lands.

Dedicated to our lost souls in Valhalla.

Rústir undir Snjónum, I remember being surrounded by these huge solidified black lavas, I imagined being in the middle of the ruins of an ancient dark city or to the walls of a malefic castle. This place being Dimmuborgir, home to many traditional legends, it is said that trolls can be found hidden in this places.

Galdrar í Skógafoss, the crow flew above the waterfall for a while I observed the immensity of this place, a black shadow walked in the water, holding a flame in its hands drums were vibrating in my head. From the paths of Fimmvörðuháls, the jötunn were approaching the waterfall, an illusion ? I didn't know. But they were here, standing in front of me, the sky darkened, a chilling voice begins to howl in the mountains, was the soul of a hero killed in battle a long time ago, this scream came from Valhalla, this waterfall was the gate of heaven.

Söngur Krákanna, to the thoughts and reflections of Hugin, to the memory of Munin.

Hvalfjörður, alone, lost in the middle of the Esja, a massif of basaltic volcanic mountains which was in front of the house, I spent my time walking in this great void.

Jöklar og eldfjallalönd, I had come from far away to explore these mysterious lands, I was amazed by the majesty of its glaciers and the power of its volcanoes. Along the Jökulsarlon lagoon, the glaciers seemed frozen in time, sleeping peacefully, their peaks sparkling under the Icelandic sun. While the volcano of Fagradalsfjall awoke, vibrating the entire ground which became hot, the lava was so close to me, making me think of the struggles between the gods and the forces of evil. The magic of this nordic world where reality and mythology mixed.

Norðurljós, the colorful lights that appeared in the night sky of the northern lands, I saw warriors riding in the sky.
